Beginner guide
Chop Chains is an idle-meets-active chopping game: you swing an axe, earn wood, spend it on axes and skills, and eventually push into rare wood types, forest automation, and Void resets. This page covers the first hour to your first million wood.
Core loop
- Chop trees to generate wood.
- Spend wood on axe upgrades and skill nodes.
- Unlock faster spawns and passive forest income.
- Target rare trees for advanced crafting materials.
- Later: Void resets for permanent multipliers.
First upgrades (order of operations)
| Step | Goal | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Raise axe power | More damage per click |
| 2 | Raise axe size | Hit more trees per swing |
| 3 | First luck nodes | Rare drops unlock new crafts |
| 4 | Spawn rate | Screen stays full of targets |
| 5 | Forest tier 1–2 | Offline progress while AFK |
Wood milestones
- 1K–10K — learn UI, buy first crafted axe.
- 100K — unlock mid skill clusters (chains introduction).
- 1M — rotate into rare wood farms (see wood types guide).
- 1B+ — prep Void gate and legendary crafts.
Common mistakes
- Ignoring spawn rate — you lose time waiting for trees.
- Skipping forest — active play is fun, but idle gains fund big purchases.
- Over-investing in one branch — balance power, size, and luck.
